Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

Workstation
14” MacBook Pro, M2 Max (2023)
I love this computer, especially with the M2 Max. It beats the crap out of my old PC with the RX 5700xt 10700 i7. With TF Metal, we Mac users can finally train Tensorflow models on the go. It’s a great machine for development, and the battery lasts forever.
Synology DS923+ Diskstation NAS
This is my first Network-Attached-Storage device, and I’m loving it. In retrospect, I wish I had done this DIY so that I could have more control over the hardware (GPU transcoding FTW), but the Synology software is great. I’m using it for Time Machine backups, Plex, general file storage, home automation, and more.
Apple Magic Mouse
I’ve tried a bunch of different mice over the years but I always end up returning to the Magic Mouse. It’s not the most ergonomic, but it’s the most comfortable for me. I love the gestures and the way it feels in my hand.
Herman Miller Aeron Chair
I’m not sure if this chair is actually comfortable or if it’s just that I’ve been sitting in it for so long that I’ve forgotten what comfort feels like. Either way, it’s a great chair and I love it.
Development tools
JetBrains
Once you’ve gone JetBrains, you can’t go back. I use IntelliJ IDEA for nearly everything web related, PyCharm for Python, and DataGrip for db stuff.
iTerm2
I’ve tried ditching it for Alacritty, but I’ve come back. The config GUI is just too good.
Music
Neve 1073 Stereo Preamp
I use this preamp on everything from synths to vocals to mix busses.
Tascam 424 MKIII
A fantastic little tape machine that I use on most of my vocal chains. The tape speed isn't fast enough to print a mix to this without severe audio quality degradation, but it’s perfect for the tracks that sound just a little too robotronic.
Alesis Quadraverb
I first heard about this little reverb unit because Jeff Buckley used it on Grace. I leave it on "Taj Mahal."
